About Jason Reid

Jason Reid:
Invisible Disability and Vulnerable Leadership Expert

For more than a decade, award-winning speaker Jason Reid has been helping organizations better understand and support employees with invisible and non-apparent disabilities, neurodivergence, and mental health challenges in the workplace. Drawing from his own experience leading teams while managing hidden illnesses, Jason brings a rare combination of lived experience, executive leadership insight, humour, and powerful storytelling to every stage.

Before becoming a sought-after keynote speaker, Jason spent 20 years in television news, eventually serving as Head of Content at The Weather Network, where he lead high-pressure, high-performing teams while he was quietly managing two major chronic health conditions. When he finally disclosed his illness to his staff, something unexpected happened: team members began sharing their own invisible challenges, barriers were addressed collaboratively, and productivity doubled within a year.

That experience reshaped Jason’s understanding of leadership, workplace culture, and belonging — and became the foundation for his work speaking about invisible disabilities, neurodiversity, psychological safety, and human-centred leadership.

In addition to his work on invisible disabilities and workplace inclusion, Jason is also the creator of Awkward Leadership™ — a leadership keynote brand built around the idea that the moments most leaders avoid are often the moments that build the deepest trust. Through vulnerable leadership, honest communication, humour, and deeply human stories, Jason explores how awkward conversations and imperfect moments can become powerful tools for connection, innovation, and stronger teams.

Jason has spoken to audiences on three continents and worked with Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, financial institutions, health organizations, tech firms, and national retailers including TD Bank, Bombardier, IKEA, and Coinbase. His presentations resonate with executives, HR professionals, managers, and frontline teams alike because they combine practical workplace strategies with authentic stories people genuinely connect to and remember.

Whether he’s speaking about invisible disabilities, neurodivergence, workplace accommodation, or leadership culture, Jason’s presentations don’t feel like corporate lectures. They feel like transformative conversations — the kind that make people laugh, reflect, rethink assumptions, and leave inspired to build workplaces where people feel safe to contribute, supported to succeed, and empowered to belong.
